| 'Fósiles del Uruguay' Five self-adhesive stamps @ 5 $. se-tenant; Devincenzia gallinali, Smilodon populator, Mesosaurus tenuidens, Doedicurus clavicaudatus, 'Artigasia magna' (Roedor Gigantesco). Issue date: 5-th of May.
The stamps show reconstructions, not fossils. 'Roedor gigantesco' is 'giant rodent', the genus has been renamed Josephoartigasia. Artigas is a town in the north of Uruguay, in turn named after one of the founders of the state of Uruguay. Smilodon probably after Ch. Knight. |
