INTRODUCTION

This section covers philatelic items other than stamps. I have tried to list all meter frankings and cancels, but there are many of them, and I am not aware of any publication listing them.
The latter also holds for stamp booklets and covers, but at least the number of issues is fairly limited. I have listed all issues that I know of.
Corrections and additions will be much appreciated.

COVERS, POST CARDS

I only consider items issued by national or local postal authorities. In some countries (e.g. Germany) it is allowed to print additional text / illustrations on post cards, I do not consider these here.
I decided not to provide scans of the whole items. The illustrations would either be too large and time-consuming to load when in sufficient detail, or be too small to provide adequate detail.
Instead, I show only the stamp printed on the card or cover, and describe the item.

STAMP BOOKLETS CONTENTS,
STAMP BOOKLET COVERS

There are two basically different kinds of stamp booklets: those with illustrations of prehistoric life on the cover only, thus containing no thematically relevant stamps, and those containing stamps with prehistoric life (which may show relevant illustrations on the cover as well).

METER FRANKINGS

Listed by country.

Some examples illustrated.

Meter frankings with prehistoric life forms have been used by museums, earth science departments of universities, geological surveys, and publishers. Also, a few are used by companies and show prehistoric life as a symbol or logo.

POSTAL CANCELS

Listed by country.

Some examples illustrated.

Postal cancels with prehistoric life are relatively rare, except from France, where stamp and fossil fairs are often advertized with local postal cancels. Congresses have also 'rated' special cancels in a few cases.

NON-POSTAL CANCELS

At fairs or expositions in some countries (German Federal Republic, U.S.A.) one can obtain commemmorative cancels on cards and covers. Often, these are not mailed, they may even be without adress. Because of this, I consider them of very limited thematical value and do not provide a comprehensive list. However, I am willing to change my mind if someone can help me with compiling all the data.
